About the Event
Unmuting asks: how can the stories of those incarcerated be heard on the outside? Can these voices [unmuted] effect change in the system? A seven-member ensemble, most of whom have returned to the community from prison, perform first-person pieces about discovering voice and being heard within carceral settings and beyond. Two performances on Tues. Feb. 27th (12:30 and 5:30 pm). Â Free to the Capital community.
Unmuting, a performance of the Justice Dance Performance Project, was originally commissioned by the English Department’s Allan K. Smith Endowment at Trinity College as the culminating event of a symposium titled ‘Unmuting: Voice in Justice Impacted Art’ held at the College in November 2022. Directed by Judy Dworin, Artistic Director, JDPP. Learn more on the Justice Dance Perfomance Project website. Registration info coming soon.
