About the Event

Join us for a guided tour of Connecticut’s Revolution, a landmark exhibition at the Museum of Connecticut History. It brings together more than 100 Revolutionary War-era objects and documents, including items on loan from 17 institutions across the state, many displayed together for the first time. You’ll hear the stories of the soldiers, statesmen, Patriots, Loyalists, printers, farmers, sailors, women, and children who shaped the nation’s founding.

Tour highlights include:

  • The Goddard Broadside: one of only nine surviving copies of the Declaration of Independence printed by Mary Katharine Goddard, alongside Connecticut’s June 14, 1776 resolution authorizing its delegates to vote for independence.

  • Rare artifacts from the war: the Second Regiment Light Dragoons Standard, one of only 30 surviving flags from the Revolution, plus a fragment of the King George III statue torn down in 1776.

  • Personal stories in objects: the plow General Israel Putnam left behind when he heard the Lexington Alarm, a powder horn gifted to Benedict Arnold, and the cloak Deborah Champion wore on a mission across British lines.
